This event has been featured on the A &
E special; "The Challenge" and was written up in Dog Fancy magazine. This is a timed
event/competition with the dog chasing an elusive lure down straight-aways and around soft
corners through an irregular |
| US Pat. No. 6,109,213 |
shaped course during which |
| the dog traverses through, jumps over or
crawls under various scaled down agility pieces. The Challenge Course is designed for all
size and temperamented dogs, from miniature Dauchshunds to Great Danes. This event requires
no prior training or experience. The dog runs the course twice, once for practice and the
second for time. Once the performance level of the dog is assessed, it can then race the
course with other similarly paced dogs. |

This event is run on a straight course with the dog
chasing a lure over a set of hurdles. The dog naturally achieves jumping height based on his
running speed as he meets and leaps the hurdle. Each time the dog successfully jumps the
hurdle set the bars are incrementally raised. The dog continues to jump the course until he
knocks down both hurdle bars on the same run. |

This game requires that the event site have a pond
or other such body of water. Dogs follow a variable speed lure into the water and swim after
it until it reaches the other side. Dogs are placed by their order of finish. |

An 1/10 mile oval shaped track is constructed. The
dogs race around the track in groups of three or four. Dogs are scored in the order they
cross the finish line. |
| Flag Tag |
| Your dog follows a fast moving lure as it swipes
past the defined check points that are marked by a flag centered within a chalked circle.
Dogs are scored on accuracy in following the lure through the checkpoints. As long as at
least one paw crosses into the circle, the checkpoint is scored. Again, no prior skills,
experience or training is needed. |
 |
| Race Ball |
| A standard tennis ball is propelled from a ball
machine thus assuring uniform ball throws. The dog chases the ball down an enclosed course
and is timed from the start line until the dog fetches the ball in his/her mouth. |
